+Do I need an account?
No. Just paste your text, pick a voice, and pay. We'll then email you an MP3 download link. Every visit is treated as a new visit; we don't keep a history view for you.
+What languages do you support?
If you paste text in another language (Spanish, French, Mandarin, German, etc.), the voices will try to read it phonetically as if it were English and the result will not be very good. We're open to adding more languages in the future, feel free to email support@simpletexttospeech.io to let us know what specific languages you'd like to see.
+How long does generation take?
It scales with the length of the text. A paragraph is usually ready in under a minute. A short article (a few thousand words) takes a few minutes. A book chapter (~10,000 words) lands in roughly half an hour. A full novel (~100,000 words) typically runs 3 to 6 hours, and very long inputs (toward the 1,000,000-word cap) can take more than a day. There's no need to keep your browser tab open: we'll email you a download link as soon as it's finished.
+My email didn't arrive. Now what?
- Check your spam or junk folder. Our email comes from support@simpletexttospeech.io. If you find it there, mark it "not spam" so future emails land in your inbox.
- Check the page you saw right after paying. The same download link lives there, and that page keeps working, so you can re-open it from your browser history. Big jobs also show a live progress bar there.
- Wait 10 to 15 minutes. Generation isn't instant for longer text, and email sometimes takes a few extra minutes to arrive.
- Still nothing? Email support@simpletexttospeech.io from the address you used at checkout. A real person will resend the link, usually within a few hours.
+What audio format do I get?
A standard MP3 file. It plays on phones, computers, podcast apps, audiobook apps, smart speakers, your car via CarPlay or Android Auto, basically anywhere audio plays. The voice is recorded as a single channel (mono), which is normal for spoken-word audio. The sample rate is 24 kHz, which is high fidelity while also balancing file size. If you specifically need a different format (WAV, M4B for audiobooks, etc.), a quick web search for "mp3 to [desired format] online" will turn up plenty of free browser-based converters where you just upload the file and download the converted version.
+How can I insert pauses?
[pause:0.5s] tag in at your cursor; edit the seconds value (e.g. [pause:2s]) to lengthen it as desired. Pause tags are free; they don't count toward your word total.+How can I influence pronunciation?

+Can I edit individual words after generation?
Nope. Use the free 100-word audio preview to confirm pronunciation for any tricky names or words ahead of time (see the pronunciation FAQ above), then only pay for the full render once it sounds the way you want.
+Can I split a long file into chapters?
Sure, but note that we deliver one MP3 per order. So if you want separate files per chapter then submit each chapter as its own order. Since pricing is per-word, 10 chapters of 10,000 words will cost the same as one 100,000-word file. Alternatively you could also split the delivered MP3 yourself with free audio editing software like Audacity.
+How long is my download link valid?
The download link we email you works for 7 days from the moment your audio is ready, so even a very long job that takes days to generate still leaves you a full week to download. Save the MP3 to your own device within that window. After the download link expires, you'd need to re-submit the same text and pay again to re-obtain the associated audio.
+What about my privacy?
- Email: Stripe captures it at checkout and shares it with us so we can email you the download link. We never use it for marketing.
- Payment: handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number, CVC, or full billing address.
- Your text and the rendered MP3: stored on our backend (encrypted at rest in Amazon S3) so we can answer support and quality questions about your order. We don't train AI models on your text or audio, and we don't pass them to anyone else who would.
- No selling, no retargeting: we don't sell or rent your data, and there are no retargeting scripts or social-media widgets on the site. While we're running paid search we load Google's conversion measurement tag, which tells us an ad led to a purchase and nothing about the text you submitted.
- Analytics: we use a single first-party analytics tool (PostHog) to understand site usage. Form inputs (including the text box and your email) are masked, and we honor both Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control browser signals.
- Your rights: you can request deletion of a specific job at any time, email privacy@simpletexttospeech.io.
